Headbandz

Take a peek into my speech room this week! We are using Headbandz!

This game is great for working on:

Asking Questions – You must ask a question to gain clues to determine what you are!

Answering Questions – Players must answer question correctly to help their friendsz

Describing- You may have to describe what is on your friendz head!

Making Inferences – You must gather clues and use information you already know to figure out what is on your card!

Turn Taking- Take turns asking questions!

My kids have a blast when I pull out this game!

How it works: First put on a headband! Then have another player put your card on your headband. Then you must ask questions to figure out what you are!

The game also comes with question cheat sheets to help students think up questions to ask!

Have you used this game before? What are some of your favorite speech toys?

Movie Making on the IPad

Hello to my favorite speechies! Be sure to stop over at Activity Tailor today to see our guest post on video modeling! It is a wonderful new intervention that we are learning lots about! To go along with our guest post, we are doing a quick tutorial on how to make a movie on your iPad (the EASY way!).

As the saying goes, there is more than one way to skin a cat. There is also more than one way to make a video on your iPad!

I am sharing the easiest and quickest way I have found. If you have other ways you like to make a movie PLEASE share it in the comments section!

If your iPad has a camera, you should see an app that looks like this.

Open it and your screen will look like this.

To make a video slide the bottom right button to the video camera symbol. Then touch the red button to record! When you are finished, touch the red button again.

And there you go! Now you have a movie to play back to your students!

If you would like to edit some of your video touch the top line that shows several pictures in a row. It will turn yellow, and you can move the line to wherever you want the video to begin or end. Then touch trim. You can save this video as a new video, or as the original.

And there you go! Now you are set to go try video modeling in your classroom!

Spring Into Speech Blog Hop

Happy Spring Blog Hop everyone! I hope you are enjoying a little tour of some amazing speechie blogs and racking up on the freebies!

We have created a fun activity to target contractions! Go HERE to grab the FREEBIE!

It is easy and fun to use! Just cut out each flip flop and laminate. Then have students match the contraction to the correct words! Students may self check by making sure the colors of the flip flops match. And don’t worry we included an answer key in the download!

For our reader friends who love folder games, this activity would be a great folder game! Just glue one flip flop from each pair to the folder (It’s best to either glue all contractions or all words). Add Velcro to the folder and the back of the remaining flip flops. Then attach a baggie to hold the extra flip flops and there ya go! Students can pull out a flip flop and find it’s match!

Be sure to follow us on TpT and Facebook!

Blog Hop Fun: If you are still fuzzy on how this works, it is very simple! At the end of the post you will see a link for the next blog to visit. Go there, and continue to stop by each blog (there should be 17 in all). Each site will have letters somewhere in their post. Collect all the letters and unscramble them to figure out the spring saying! On the last blog stop you can enter the Rafflecopter for some amazing prizes by just entering the ‘secret’ phrase!

Ok, now it's time to hop on over to Carrie's Speech Corner! Good Luck everyone! Be sure to stop by later for other posts!
